Dinner and Dancing in Toronto

There is no place where you can dine and dance whenever
you feel like it.  Especially if you like good music.
If you find a place that should be on the list, please tell me!

Depending on what your priorities are between music, food,
atmosphere, and dancing, the following are pretty much it:

Old Mill
Old Fashioned Conventional Fancy.  Mo-Sa.

Hugh's Room
Great Music.  Good food.  Not inexpensive.  Check schedule
to see if music is to your taste.

Danube Suabian Club, 1686 Ellesmere Rd E/McCowan 290-6186
Every Sunday, 1700-2100 DanceTea $5
Excellent German Food.  Large dance floor.
Variety of ballroom dance music -- mostly post-1950 German pop.
(Sometimes live, which may or may not be better than DJ)
Occasional Waltz and Polka.  This is a dance.
Very unpretentious dancing.

Harmony Club
Every Friday,
Buffet Dinner and Ballroom Dancing

Colony Hotel
Occasional Big Band dinner/shows with dancing.

Bamboo, 312 Queen Street West (416) 593-5771
Mostly Reggae.  Sometimes "swing".  Good food.  Not pricey.
Tiny (usually empty) dance floor.

Reservoir Lounge
Very smoky bar.  Loud.  Busy.  Good music.  Small dance floor.
Good food, not cheap.  Packed on weekends.

HAMILTON Big Band Showdown Convention Centre
A few times a year.  Excellent!  Well worth the trip to Hamilton.

  Eclectic/bizarre decor.  No food.  Very informal.  Smoky.
  No dance floor; tiled, uneven; beware of drunks and kamikaze waiter
  Beware of broken glass and spilled drinks.

  great dance hall!  historic sprung dance floor
  unfortunately, this has been taken over by the city, who is *not* operating
  it as a ballroom.

  good dance floor, good atmosphere
  One of the best (kept secret) venues in town.
